William J. Doyle

attorney William Doyle

William (“Bill”) Doyle is the founder and President of Doyle APC and is licensed to practice law in California. Since 1998, Mr. Doyle has dedicated his career to representing individuals nationwide in complex product liability litigation, including class actions and mass tort cases involving defective consumer products, prescription drugs, and medical devices.

Mr. Doyle has built a nationwide practice by taking on some of the world’s largest corporations over dangerous and defective products. He has served as lead counsel in high-stakes product liability class actions and MDL litigations against industry giants including Apple, Honda, Sony, LG, Amazon, and other Fortune 500 companies. His cases have ranged from consumer electronics and automotive defects to dangerous pharmaceuticals and medical implants.

Courts throughout the United States have appointed Mr. Doyle as lead or co-lead counsel in numerous complex product liability litigations, recognizing his ability to manage sophisticated multi-party cases from inception through trial. In the Apple iPhone product defect litigation, Mr. Doyle served as co-lead counsel in a certified class action that resulted in a $20 million settlement after six years of contentious litigation. In the Honda Civic Hybrid litigation, he helped achieve a settlement valued at over $165 million for consumers who were misled about fuel economy estimates and battery defects. Mr. Doyle also served as co-lead counsel in the NVIDIA graphics chip litigation, which resulted in a settlement that required NVIDIA to take an accounting reserve of more than $500 million to remedy widespread computer defects.

Mr. Doyle has extensive experience representing clients in mass tort litigation involving defective medical devices and pharmaceuticals. He currently represents hundreds of individuals who suffered serious injuries from defective hernia and surgical mesh implants manufactured by major medical device companies including Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, and C.R. Bard. His firm has successfully resolved hundreds of cases on behalf of women injured by pelvic mesh products, resulting in significant recoveries for their injuries and future medical needs.

In 2008, Mr. Doyle co-founded and served as managing partner of Doyle Lowther LLP, a national class action law firm. He previously worked as an attorney and partner in the nation’s largest class action law firm, where he developed deep expertise in complex litigation and product liability law.

Beyond product liability, Mr. Doyle has served as lead counsel in landmark cases that established important legal precedents, including internet privacy litigation that achieved new protections for online consumers and the TransUnion credit report litigation where he certified a class action of over 9 million consumers and obtained a nationwide settlement valued at over $109 million.

Mr. Doyle graduated from the University of San Diego with an undergraduate degree in economics and earned his law degree in 1996 from California Western School of Law. He is admitted to practice in state and federal courts throughout California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First, Second, and Ninth Circuits.

Mr. Doyle is a member of the American Association for Justice, the State Bar of California, the San Diego County Bar Association, and the National Trial Lawyers Association. He also served on the board of directors for the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and as a director of the San Diego County Bar Foundation.
